Another game, another walkoff homer...
I'm sittin here at work, being productive (as I always am, of course) and monitoring the Sox vs A's game in the background with MLB Gamecast. I'm not really paying too much attention to it, just keeping up with the score, so I have no idea who made the good plays, or what really is happening in the game cuz, hey, I'm working.
So, I'm working along, pressing buttons, sending e-mails, and doing all the other really exciting stuff that fills up my day, and the next thing you know it's the top of the 9th, with the Sox up 4-1. Foulke comes in.
"Ok, cool," I'm thinking to myself, "we've got this one in the bag." I read an e-mail or 2, check Gamecast, and there's 2 outs in the top of the 9th with a man on 1st.
"Ok, no big deal, there's a man on, but there's 2 outs. Foulkie should be able to get these guys..."
Somebody comes in to the lab to ask a question about something, so I hide the Gameday in the background and have a little work related conversation, yadda, yadda, yadda. Bingo-bango-bongo, the work related conversation ends and I bring back Gameday to see what I expect to be the final winning score of 4-1, Sox.
Nope.
Its 5-4 A's. WHAT??
I turn around and tell the other guy in the lab with me, "Dude, the Sox are now losing!"
"WHAT?? You gotta be shittin' me! What the fuck happened?? I thought they were up like 4-1 or somthin..."
"So did I," I reply disgustedly.
"Aiiiight, well, I guess that's that," I said, and went off to do some more work, mumbling under my breath about Foulke, who I still like but am now annoyed with at the moment...
A little while later, I come back in the lab and check the final, fully expecting to be depressed.
It's 6-4. Sox win.
"HEY!" I say to the other guy in the lab, "The Sox won!"
"What?? What the fuck happened? I thought they were down like 5-4 in the 9th?"
"Walk off homer by The Captain," I said.
"NICE..." my co-worker lab drone replies.
"Yeah," I say, "but it looks like the mutherfuckin Yankees are winning too."
"Fucking bastards..."
So The Sox pulled out another win in the the bottom of the 9th inning. I'm glad they won, and they did it once again in a very cool fashion, but at the same time, they can't keep winning games like this. Well, they can, I guess, but they probably are not going to.
Come on Foulkie. I refuse to give up on ya...
Oh by the way, is it time to go home yet?? This work shit is for the birds!
And the captain saves the day!
i don't want to give up

...yet, either. Sorry, got distracted yesterday and didn't have the chance to finish my thoughts.
