--cant think of anything for a title--
Hey what's up everybody! I have not posted in here for a few days and I'm sure you are wondering what I am up to (yeah right!)
There's not too much to report really. I have just been kind of taking it easy.
Last Sunday was a perfect day. I sat around in my back yard patio and enjoyed what turned out to be a beautiful summer day. I thought about listening to the Sox game but decided to listen to a good mix of summertime music that I made instead. Since the Sox got their butts kicked, that turned out to be the right choice.
I pretty much kicked back, had a few Coronas, watched the kids play, looked at the bushes and flowers, watched the trees swaying in the breeze and just decompressed. It really made me feel good to just sit under an umbrella and not have to go anywhere or do anything and allow my mind and thoughts to just float. Sometimes it's good to think about nothing.
Later on in the day my kids and I hit some whiffle balls. They really enjoy that and it's fun for me too. I think it actually helps relieve stress to whack that whiffle ball across the yard. I started out by throwing the ball in the air and then hitting it but eventually I talked my wife into to pitching a few balls to me. It was a lot of fun. I could not help but think about the fact that men get paid millions of dollars to do this. Throw the ball, hit the ball, catch the ball. Sure they have to put up with a bunch of crap from the press and listen to us knuckle-head fans, but still, they get paid to play baseball. If you have not gone out and had a game of catch or hit a few ball lately, I suggest you go out and try it and remember how much fun it is. The Red Sox are lucky guys.
Speaking of the Sox, I guess the All-Star break happened. I did not pay attention to it at all to be honest. I guess there was a record broken for home runs during the home run derby? Don't know. Didn't watch it. The A.L. won the All-Star game. Other than that, I have no idea what happened during the All-Star festivities. Baseball season, along with summertime, is half way over. Man, that really seemed to go by fast. 6 weeks left, then September. I don't want to think about it!
Yes, I miss Patriot football and rumor has it there may actually be a hockey season this year, but I'm really trying hard to cling to every iota of this summertime season.
I've also been doing a lot of front porch sittin'. These summer evenings have been so nice the last few days. After the kids are in bed my wife and I have been going out on the porch swing with a little cocktail and hanging out, talking about the day and watching the sun disappear. It's been really nice and I think it has done me a lot of good mood-wise.
I've also been working on the job search the last few days. I put my resume up on Monster and a few folks have contacted me. I wrote back to them and now I am waiting to hear back. We'll see where it goes from there. All of the jobs look kind of far away, like an hour (or more!) drive. I'm trying to cut down my commute so these jobs may turn out to be too far away, but, any contacts I get are still worth following up on...
The MF Yankees will be in town starting tomorrow with Cornrollio going up against Moose. I got offered tickets to a game this weekend and it killed me, because I know that Shilling will be back this weekend, but I had to turn them down. I just went to a game against Toronto about 2 weeks ago and I can't afford to go to another game so soon, even if it is Sox / Yankees. Stupid bills. Maybe in the late August / Sept timeframe I'll be able to go to one more if a ticket comes up.
I've really been enjoying podcasts lately. I just started listening to them and I like them a lot. I put my favorites in my links area. If you have any podcast recommendations, let me know!
Well, this post is kind of all over the place, but that's what happens when you don't write in a while. Later.
