So, here we are...
Here we are bottom of the 9th and Gonzalez has done well. I like that guy. I saw him in person against Seattle a few months ago and I think he's got what it takes. I don't want to jinx him but he seems to be a smart pitcher, lights out when it's needed.
1 out left to the win and here comes Embree.
Is this 'closer by comitte'? Fuckin' A. I'm having bad flashbacks. If it is, I'm not sure I like it. We need a solid closer and if it's got to be anybody, in my mind it's got to be Timlin. Its... GOT TO mister... (Kirk imitation there) Seriously. I'd love to see Timlin (whoa black betty bam-a-lam) be the closer.
Shilling in the pen, not sure I like it. Have to agree with recent commentary by my homeboy Johnny. He's a starter, not a closer. Big difference. Shilling needs a number of pitches to get warmed up. Can he come in after a few warm up throws and be effective? I dont know. I just don't know, especially in a close game. Don't get me wrong, I love Shilling, but from the pen? I guess we'll see what happens. It's July, so it's not like the season is immediately blown if the experiment is a dismal failure.
Easy ground out for Chaw and the Sox win, 7-2. Nice to see the Sox get the win for Cornrollio. MFY won too and the AL East is getting bunched up again. Effin Yankees are in 2nd place now.
By the way, Billy-Ba-Roo Meuller, awesome plays tonight. Especially to close out the later innings of the game, Bill made a catch at 3rd but just could not beat out the runner at first with the throw. Still a great play though.
Sox Post Game: Bob Lobel wants to know, between beers, Ace Starter or Closer. Starter. Starter. Starter (ya drunken fuck).
