What a difference a week makes...

Coming out of last weekend I was feeling pretty good about The Red Sox. Despite the fact that we lost 2 out of 3 to the MFY, Shilling looked back to form on Sat and Wake looked very good in a loss to The Beanpole Bitch, Randy Johnson.

Then we took a 3 game Division lead into Toronto and won 2 out of 3. That would normally be considered an overall good strech, except we lost ground to the MFY with the one game we lost and then we dropped another one to the A's in an absolutely wretched game last night, leaving us clinging by our fingernails to a 1 1/2 game lead over the MFY.

The high confidence I had in The Sox on Monday has completely eroded into a hang-on-for-your-life, holy shit, how are we going to be able to make it through these next few weeks as the 1 1/2 game ledge we are holding onto is crumbling away underneath us and Dan Duquette is standing at the top of the edge screaming, "MORE DAYS IN FIRST PLACE, MORE DAYS IN FIRST PLACE," nightmare.

Wake needs to get it going against the A's tonight. While we're at it, hey Toronto, a little help please? Can you help pull us away from the edge and get Dan Duquette out of my head while you're at it?

Evan over at Firebrand is not in the quitting mood. I'm with him. Let's project some Positive Thought for tonight's game.
