Playoff hopes...
Well, the Red Sox made it into the playoffs. It feels great to be in the post-season and not have to feel the weight of 86 years without a championship on your back. No curse talk, no taunts about Boone or Bucky, (although ESPN will show the clips anyway, despite their irrelivance.) That junk just does not bother us anymore. It's very nice to have all that garbage gone and in the past. Despite the networks insitance on trying to drag back ancient history, The Red Sox are just another post-season contender now. From now on, it's just about Playoff Baseball. Awesome.
I'm actually feeling kind of relaxed about this post-season. Obviously I want The Red Sox to win, and there will be the usual tension and hoping for them to do so, but at the same time I am looking forward to kicking back a little and actually enjoying the games, as opposed to the last few years, where I was climbing the walls and hanging from the ceilings by my fingers and toes with the stress meter maxed out for the entire playoffs.
I have said all along that I just wanted the Red Sox to get into the Playoffs and I would be happy. They made it and I am happy. Now it is time to take it to the next level and not get too far ahead of myself. I want the Red Sox to win the ALDS and I have a good feeling that they will. I think it goes 4 games and thanks to the magic of Karma, Reb will get to see the Red Sox win the series in person.
Here's my LDS Wish List:
White Sox / Red Sox - Red Sox. (Duh!)
Angels / Yankees - Angels. - I know there are a lot of people who want to see an ALCS rematch of last year but, you know what? Fuck the fucking Yankees. I'm so sick of them. I want to see them knocked out of the playoffs early, and not because I'm afraid to face them in the ALCS (I'm not), but because I want to see them have to sit at home and watch somebody else play for a change. Plus, it would make all the people at FOX TV seriously depressed. Fuck the Yankees, Fuck FOX, Fuck. Them. (Sorry, went on a bit of a rant there.)
Eventual ALCS Winner: Red Sox (Duh!)
Padres / Cards - Padres. Dave Roberts is on the Padres. Nuff said right there. Plus, my blogger freind Melissa is pulling for them, so there you go.
Astros / Braves - Astros. Sorry but I just can't bring myself to root for The Braves and my animosity towards Clemens has mellowed quite a bit since he left the Yankees so I will pull for him and his team. And, not to get too far ahead of ourselves (Baseball Gods, take note), think how cool it would be to see the Astros make it to the World Series and face The Red Sox.
Eventual NLCS Winner: Astros
Thats' as far as I'm willing to go.
Mission 11W 2005 starts tonight.
