It's that time of the year again, the time of the year when the Red Sox make me turn into a basket case. It happens every year and now I have historical proof.

From an unpublished blog I was writing in 2003:

Title: Sox win in Oakland

Abstract: They just keep stringing us along, like a fish on a hook...

Body: The Sox split 4 games in Oakland, leaving 1 game ahead in the wild card. They were 3 back of the fucking yankees. We'll have to wait to see what happens there.

They do this to us every year. Arggg! I wish they would make the playoffs at least! They will probably finish 1 or 2 games out, just like always.

Thank god the Pats are starting up soon!

I will not mention the Bruins. They are almost as bad as the Sox. Celts are on the rise and will be contenders again this year.

Sounds familiar huh? Hey, at least I'm consistent.

Title: Sox Lose, Pats start camp (finally!)

Abstract: Sox lost. The Pats started training camp today. Thank goodness.

Body: The Sox lost to Baltimore, even with Shilling pitching. Dang it. I did not bother to check to see if the Evil Empire won or not. At this point, focus on the Wild Card.

Thank goodness today The World Champions start training camp. The team looks real good this year. I can't wait for the first game to start. GO PATS

Might as well continue the trend of becoming a bat-shit Sox fan during the month of August.

Another painful loss for the Red Sox again tonight, going down 3-2 to Detroit. I hate it when Shilling gets beat, but when he gets beat because there's no run support, those losses hurt extra. It looked like we had a chance at making a comeback in the late innings but it was not to be. Dammit.

Last night's loss for Beckett was just plain ugly. Honestly, I kind of expected the Sox to get beaten last night after Detroit had dropped 5 games in a row. I had a feeling during the day that The Tigers were going to come into Fenway looking to open a can of whoop-ass, but it would have been nice to have seen Beckett put up a fight, or something. Anything.

People keep saying that Beckett is the 'Ace of the Future' for the Red Sox. How about being the 'Ace of Right Now', Beckett. What the fuck? This guy is not a prospect. He's supposed to be a fucking 'big game' pitcher. Isn't that why we got him? What's with this 'he's young, give him time' shit I'm always hearing?

Fuck that.

Beckett needs to pull his shit together now if this Red Sox team is going to go anywhere this season. The Playoffs are most definitely not a lock right now. That is for sure.

Lets hope Wells can get it done for the Sox tomorrow night.
